Located in Downtown Greenville, SC, Luna Rosa Gelato Cafe has become an iconic favorite for locals and travelers from all over the tri-state.
Luna Rosa Gelato Café is a family owned and operated restaurant located in downtown Greenville at 9 West Washington Street right off Main Street. We feature authentic artisan gelato, made fresh daily in our café, as well as scratch-made Italian comfort food at lunch. Our gelato has been hailed as the best in the United States and the locals will attest to our food (soups, salads, pizzas, pasta and panini) as being some of the best in the downtown dining scene.
Luna Rosa’s atmosphere is warm and inviting. Our service is friendly and informative. We have seating inside, as well as outside, weather permitting, under a canopy of umbrellas. Table service is provided for our dining customers and Luna Rosa is child and dog (outside) friendly.
We like to say that gelato is simply better ice cream. And we serve it along with the food you wish your mom used to make. But don’t take our word for it. Stop by and taste for yourself. Feel free to sample all of our twenty daily flavors of gelato and sorbetto. We are sure, if you can settle on a favorite or three, that you will agree.
All of our food is prepared from scratch using recipes perfected and collected through the years by family. We serve lunch seven days a week. Reservations are not accepted but we are glad to receive a "Call Ahead" for larger parties and will give you priority seating when you arrive. We are also happy to prepare an order for you to pick up and take back to your home or office and we do accept catering requests. However due to our size and the fresh preparation of all of our food we have a very limited delivery area.
Please join us on Social Media to receive important current information regarding your favorite gelateria and cafe.

We love Luna!!! As regulars for the past 6 years, my family picks Luna Rosa over every restaurant in Greenville. All of their menu items are fresh and delicious and always prepared to perfection. Special thanks to Jose for making toasted almond especially for me! Y'all are the best!
This little cafe is awesome. I have never been disappointed in any of the menu items. Their sauce and soups are seasoned just right, not overly salty! The service is always friendly. Their pizzas are very tasty. Their gelato is the best in the city as well as having the biggest variety. The lime is my favorite...cool n refreshing!
We stopped here for a bite to eat while exploring downtown visiting some friends. My husband picked this restaurant because of his enormous sweet tooth and I'm glad he did! Really clean place with nice intimate atmosphere, the seating area inside is not the biggest, but there's outdoor seating which is perfect for a nice day. We both ordered paninis which were really delicious. I got the meatball parmigiana and my husband got the prosciutto. We of course had to complete our meal with a gelato. It was absolutely delicious! Overall, I'm so happy we came here, the staff was friendly, the food and gelato were delicious, great local spot in Downtown Greenville!
If you think of gelato in Greenville, you think of Luna Rosa. Gelato is the Italian word for ice cream, but the two are actually different.
According to thekitchn.com, gelato has a smoother, silkier texture than ice cream, and it’s made with more milk, less cream and fewer eggs compared with ice cream. Gelato is churned more slowly than ice cream, which removes more air and leads to a denser product.
Now that my lesson is over, I’ll get to the point: Luna Rosa’s gelato is simply excellent. It’s rich and flavorful without being too sweet and overwhelming — perfect for a hot day.
Flavors change on a rotating basis, but if you visit their website, you’ll see an updated list. Some of my personal favorites include chocolate velvet, strawberry basil and grapefruit. If you upgrade to two scoops, you can try two different flavors, which is an option I highly recommend.
